The True Measure of a Ministry

I’ve been thinking a bit lately about legacy. Perhaps that sounds pretentious coming from a head of school only four months into this role. Bear with me.

A Century of Faithfulness

A week ago, I had the privilege of witnessing the 100th anniversary of my childhood church. My parents were pastors there for nearly a quarter of that century and this became a moving weekend that testified to the goodness of God.

This church is not particularly large. It is not well known (in fact, many of you may never have heard of it though it sits just up the road from our school). But these are not the measure of its ministry.

100 years ago, men and women responded to God’s call to establish a community committed to be the hands and feet of Christ in Rochester. Over that century, countless lives have been transformed for the glory of God. These lives—blessed, changed, and committed to Christ—are the legacy.

50 years ago, a similar group acted on the call to found a Christian school committed to discipling saints. Every student who has walked through these doors is a testament to the purpose God has for Lima Christian, for they are that purpose. Countless students and parents have been transformed by the saving blood of Christ because of the teachers, staff, and community here.

And you are a part of that.

You Are the Legacy

Whether you read this as one of our LCS alumni, a parent, an alumni parent, or a generous supporter of this school, the ministry here—the legacy of LCS—is you.
Our source of purpose is not in our size, prestige, or wealth. It is in Christ. That is the reason why the mission of this school is to equip students for a life honoring Jesus Christ. Because whether students go on to college, a trade school, military service, or directly into the workforce, we know that they have been called to be Saints, living as the hands and feet of Jesus in a lost and broken world.

Thank you for being a part of this community and for making these life changes possible.

“We will tell the next generation the praiseworthy deeds of the Lord, his power, and the wonders he has done.
…so the next generation would know them, even the children yet to be born, and they in turn would tell their children. Then they would put their trust in God and would not forget his deeds but would keep his commands.”
