A Day at Lima Christian School
Your child’s day is built with intention, from focused morning work to hands-on afternoons. Smaller class sizes make it possible, with less time on screens and more time spent in real conversation and authentic learning.
Mornings: Core Academics
Mornings focus on core academics in English Language Arts and Math with a dedicated grade-level teacher. Students will receive focused instruction, guided practice, and individualized support as they build essential reading, writing, and mathematics skills.
Afternoon: Collaborative Learning
After lunch, students in two adjacent classes work together for a focus on critical thinking and problem-solving. They also work collaboratively in social studies, science, and Bible, which follow a two-year loop, and attend specials: music, art, and physical education.
Hands-on Learning
One day each week is set aside for hands-on learning outdoors and beyond the classroom. Students garden, cook, run science experiments, take field trips, and serve others. These rich experiences give students time to explore, ask questions, and apply what they learn.

What curriculum do classes use?
Your child will learn from established programs published by trusted names, with specific materials varying by grade level. Reading and phonics are built on Fundations from Wilson Language Training, mathematics follows Eureka Math Squared, Bible instruction uses Purposeful Design, and science draws on Bob Jones. Every curriculum is reviewed regularly to meet Lima Christian School’s standards for academic excellence and Christ-centered instruction.

How large are the classes?
Elementary classes at Lima Christian School average nine students, with a maximum of 15. Your child’s morning instruction in reading, writing, and mathematics happens in that grade-level group, which means the teacher knows precisely where your child is and what comes next. Class size is the reason our daily rhythm works the way it does, and it is the difference you will notice first.
What areas does Lima Christian School serve?
Our campus sits at 1574 Rochester St. in the village of Lima, near the crossroads of Routes 5 and 20 and Route 15A, which puts us within a comfortable drive of much of the region. Families currently travel to us from Lima, Honeoye Falls, Livonia, Avon, Geneseo, Rush-Henrietta, Bloomfield, and Victor, along with communities throughout Livingston, Monroe, and Ontario Counties. If you are farther out than that, we would still love to talk. A few of our families carpool, and we are glad to help you connect with others driving in from your direction.
Is before or after school care available?
Currently, LCS does not offer extended care beyond our program hours. The school day begins at 7:55 a.m. and dismissal is at 2:56 p.m.
Is there a dress code?

Do students receive report cards and standardized assessments?
Yes. Report cards are made available in SchoolTool four times a year, and parent-teacher conferences follow the first marking period, with additional conferences available any time you request one. Standardized assessments are administered each April, giving you a clear picture of how your child is progressing against national benchmarks. As an ACSI-accredited school, Lima Christian School holds itself to measurable standards, so you will never have to wonder how your child is actually doing.
