Virtual Learning for Students

Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, LCS will be using Google Classroom, Google Meet, Gmail, and Sycamore to conduct and manage virtual classes.

Each teacher will determine how to best serve you to keep your education moving forward.

Each class will look something like:

  • Your teacher will send you an assignment and instruction via Google Classroom, Gmail, and/or Sycamore.
  • You will watch, read, draw or complete the assignment much like before.
  • There may be live sessions using Google Meet that will allow you to interact with your teacher by asking them questions or participating in class instruction. The live sessions will be scheduled during your normal class time so not to conflict with other teachers.

Complete your homework on time.

Remember!

If you are learning at home, it is your responsibility to log in during your class times. If you don’t log in, you will be considered absent.

Check your email daily, and communicate with your teachers while you are out of the classroom. Complete all homework as assigned.

Need Technical Help?

Email Mr. Thompson with Tech questions/issues/suggestions. We will respond as soon as able.

Google Meet Links

All Google Meet links are now found inside the Google Classroom home page for each class.

Each Google Meet has a designated code. It will be formatted like this: xxx-yyy-zzz. A blank by the link means that a regular time has not been determined and the teacher will email you with dates and times. TABLETS AND PHONES: These devices may only need the code. The code is the group of characters to the right of the “/”.

Elementary Students

  • Each teacher will connect with each elementary family in the event of a switch to virtual learning. They will lay out how they intend to proceed.
  • The focus is to maintain and improve reading and math skills.
  • There will be instruction in other topics as the teacher sees fit.
  • Specials will likely be suspended during that time.

Technology

  • Currently, there are not enough Chromebooks to send one home with each elementary student.
  • We are asking high school students to return their devices if they already have comparable devices at home. If you have a device that your elementary student can use, please let their teacher know. If we receive enough, we’ll consider sending some home to the younger students.
