Lima Christian School continues to work closely with the Livingston, Monroe and Ontario County Health Departments, as well as the Honeoye Falls -Lima School District to provide up-to-date information to our school community.  The school’s primary concern is the health and well being of our faculty, staff , students and community at large.  This page was created to provide current information from the school and links to all of the information on COVID-19  from local, state and federal agencies.

Dear LCS Community,

Praise be to God that we at LCS are able to welcome our students to campus next Tuesday, September 8th. We have received many great questions from our community and this email will address morning health screenings, arrival and dismissal, as well as, dress code changes.

Morning Health Screenings

Our first line of health defense starts at home with parents. Please pay close attention to your child’s temperature. There is a four question daily online health screening questionnaire, which we will need parents to complete by 7:10 am each day. We have partnered with Sycamore to provide a streamlined way for you to complete this daily task in under a minute on your preferred digital device. Attached you will find instructions to complete the form through Sycamore.

If you answer yes to any of the four health screening questions or if your child has a temperature of 100.0 F or above, please keep your child home for the day and call the main office to notify the school.

If your child passes the screening questions and has a low temp, they may arrive on campus at beginning at 7:30 am by the LCS Gymnasium doors. Once a student enters the gym through the side door, they will receive a temperature check by a trained staff member. If they have a temperature of 100.0 F or greater, they will have 5 minutes to cool down in a supervised care room before their temp is re-checked. You will be contacted to pick up your child as soon as possible if they are still too hot upon the second temperature check. Attached, you will find New York State procedures to follow for children who need to go home due to the expression of COVID-19-like symptoms.

Arrival and Dismissal
The school’s procedures are designed to ensure that all students can safely arrive and depart from school in accordance with current New York State COVID-19 related standards.

Note: Parents and bus drivers are not allowed to enter LCS during either pick-up or drop-off times.

Morning Drop-Off

  • Busses and personal vehicles will enter the south LCS entrance and proceed toward the south parking lot
  • Students will exit vehicles close to the LCS gym door
  • Once a student exits the vehicle, the vehicle will proceed through the south parking lot in a loop fashion and exit campus via the south LCS exit
  • Once a student exits the vehicle, the student will walk between the gym building and playground. They will enter the gym through the clearly marked door

Afternoon Pick-Up/Dismissal

  • All walking students will be dismissed first and are expected to leave campus immediately
  • Busses will enter the north LCS entrance driveway and proceed toward the LCS main doors
  • Busses will line up along the curb by the LCS main entrance next to clearly marked signs
  • Personal vehicles will enter via the South entrance, proceed towards the gym door, and will park in clearly marked parking spaces in the south parking lot
  • Personal vehicles will have a number displayed on their dash that corresponds to the student/s they are picking up
  • Busses will be identified by their district and bus number
  • LCS staff will utilize smart technology to notify the appropriate student/s inside the building that their bus or personal vehicle is present, and that the student/s may exit the building
  • Busses and personal vehicles will exit campus via the south exit driveway

Dress Code

In order for LCS to be in compliance with NYS requirements, LCS has relaxed our dress code to include athletic clothing during our current COVID-19 adjustments. Modesty for both boys and girls will be paramount. Parents play a very important role in ensuring that school day outfits are appropriate.

I recognize that there is a great deal of information shared in this email. The LCS staff are happy to answer any questions that you may have as we start the new year. Grace and flexibility are key to our successful year ahead. State requirements continue to change frequently and I will keep you posted with the latest information.

It is important to remember that even though we reside in an uncertain time we have our firm foundation in our Lord Jesus Christ. While many things are temporarily different at LCS, the faculty and staff are still a community of people who love Jesus, your children, and being educators. We can’t wait for Tuesday! Have a blessed long weekend with your family and see you next week.

In Him,

John Reese

Academic materials for the remainder of the year are ready for pick up in the breezeway on the south side of the sanctuary. The doors are open 24/7 so you can stop by at your convenience. Upper School End of Year Test Schedule

Attached you will find the schedule for our final testing week for 9th-12th grade students (as well as 8th grade advanced math). The testing will take place Monday, June 8th – Thursday, June 11th. Please know that not all classes will be conducting fourth quarter/end of year tests. In addition, some teachers will be testing the week prior. Teachers will notify students with specific information that pertains to them. As a reminder, the last day of academic instruction is Friday, June 5th.

We are in the process of working with State officials to understand when we will be able to hold this year’s graduation. My focus is to find a time when we can give our seniors a truly memorable celebration for their significant life milestone. Thank you for your patience and I will be in touch regarding details as soon as I am able.

2020-2021 School Calendar
For your planning purposes, I will be able to share the 2020-2021 school calendar next week.
Student Locker and Desk Clean Out
We will open up LCS for families to clean out students’ desks and lockers at the end of the school year. Like planning for graduation, we are working with State officials to understand the best way to do this and abide by current safety guidelines. Stay tuned for more details.
Please join me in continuing to pray for our wonderful school community during this time and be sure to rest this weekend! As always, feel free to reach out with any questions you may have and have a great weekend.

“May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that by the power of the Holy Spirit you may abound in hope.”

In Him,

Dear LCS Parents,

I hope this email finds you safe and healthy. I would like to give you a quick COVID-19 update. In addition, we are in the process of planning for next year and I would like to share next year’s tuition rates and financial aid information.

COVID-19 Update
It is hard to determine how the planned phases of opening up our geographic region will affect schools. What we do know is that schools are closed through May 15th. It appears that opening schools will be toward the end of phase II. If our region continues to see a daily drop in COVID-19 infections, phase I should begin in mid-May. If infection rates continue to decline each opening phase lasts two weeks. That would place a possible start to phase II the end of May to early June.

In reality, the path forward is not yet clear. Governor Cuomo has stated that he will share additional information regarding schools this week and I will be sure to keep you up to date.

I encourage you to combat the uncertainty of our times by leaning into our Lord as our firm foundation, knowing that He is on the throne and His faithfulness will carry us through this storm. We will continue to make God guided decisions with safety first as we move forward.

2020-2021 Tuition Rates and Reserving your Seat
Lima Christian is a continuous enrollment school. Since we view educating a child to live for Christ as a long-term partnership with parents, we anticipate that current families will come back each year. All you need to do to reserve your child’s spot for next year is pay your registration fee reflected on a bill that will be sent on May 10th. Please pay your fee by May 29, 2020, and remember that registration fees do increase after June 1st.

Tuition rates will increase 4% for the 2020-2021 academic year. Below is a chart to help you plan. You can also view next year’s rates on the LCS website by clicking here.

Dear LCS Community,

Thank you everyone for your patience during this time. I remain incredibly thankful for how the entire LCS community comes together during difficult times. A friend recently pointed out that Christ’s church is the people, not the building, just as Lima Christian School is not just our school campus. While our instructional location has changed, the LCS faculty and staff remain in place, providing academic instruction, learning materials, and student support. Through the use of Google Meet and other virtual formats we are dedicated to maintaining dialogue and interaction among the students and teachers as they continue to learn.

I would like to share that Governor Cuomo announced during a press conference today that all schools will remain closed until April 15th. Lima Christian School will honor our coming spring break from April 6th-10th. I hope that this is truly a restful time for our community.

As we continue to move forward, the LCS team will keep an eye on the various ways that we need to remain responsive and nimble to the academic, social, and emotional needs of our community, however long we remain in our current distance learning model.

Tech Note to All Families
In response to your wonderful feedback, we have added to our resources to help streamline technology use for distance learning. At or by clicking here you will find tech information for all students. Click here to go directly to Google Meet times and links. You will also find tutorials on how to use Google Classroom for students and parents. Additionally, you can find answers to some of the most frequently asked tech questions by clicking here or visiting
Note to Lower School Families
The academic packets that your child’s grade level teacher provided to your family last week is designed to carry you through until spring break begins. We will be sure to provide additional academic material if our distance learning model continues beyond April 15th.
Please feel free to reach out to me personally if you have any questions. Be well and I will be in touch again as more information becomes available. Join me in praying for continual health in our community as well as wisdom for our team as we continue to move forward during this uncertain time.

Dear LCS Community,
I am praying for you and hoping that your families are healthy. This is a quick email to share that due to Governor Cuomo’s signed executive order, the earliest we will be able to return to school is April 1st.
We have postponed all LCS events through April 2020 regardless of whether we are able to return to school beforehand. We will do our best to reschedule events as we are able.
Finally, I would like to encourage our parents. I can imagine the myriad of pressure and stress you may be feeling at this time. The entire LCS faculty and staff will continue our support, academic instruction, and access to learning materials however long we need to maintain our current distance learning model. All other support, such as administrative and guidance will remain in place as well as we move forward.
I will be sure to keep you posted as more information becomes available.
We will prevail through the equipping of our Lord Jesus Chirst and our strength as a community, as we stand together during this time.

“May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that by the power of the Holy Spirit you may abound in hope.”
