Thank Your For Considering Lima Christian School

Many people use the final days of a year to make tax-deductible donations to their favorite charities. As you consider charitable giving, we hope that you will consider Lima Christian School.

Lima Christian is predominantly funded through tuition paid by attending families. However, this is not our only source of income. The school holds fundraisers, such as the annual benefit auction. We also seek grant funding. Finally, we do plan on receiving charitable donations. The 2022-23 Budget anticipates about 14 percent of our income will come through tax-deductible gifts.

We can say with confidence that LCS is in a strong financial position. It is due in part to the Board’s leadership and the Administration’s management of the school’s fiscal plan. However, it is also because our greater school community has started considering Lima Christian for its charitable donations in ways that it had not previously. Ultimately though, it is because the Lord stirs the hearts of His people to support this effort.

So, as you think about your end-of-year giving, we remain grateful for your remembrance of Lima Christian School. Online gifts can be made until 11:59 PM on December 31 if you desire to deduct that donation on your 2022 tax returns. Checks made payable to “LCS” must be dated by December 31, 2022 and mailed to: 1574 Rochester Street, Lima, NY 14485.

Thank you for your ongoing support!

Lima Christian Names Vicky Britton School Principal

Lima, NY—The Lima Christian School Board is pleased to announce that Vicky Britton has been named as the next principal of Lima Christian School. A familiar face, Mrs. Britton had been serving as the interim principal during the 2021-22 Academic Year, but now assumes the title and responsibilities of permanent principal.

Britton earned her undergraduate and master’s degrees from the State University of New York at Geneseo. She is also pursuing a Graduate Certificate in School Leadership through Liberty University (Lynchburg, VA).

Principal Britton began her professional career as a speech pathologist. Her work experience took her from Norman Howard School (Rochester, NY) to serving as an ESL educator at Lima Christian and then the director of the school’s International Student Program. In 2020, Britton began serving as Vice Principal of Lima Christian. Following Principal John Reese’s 2021 departure, Britton stepped in as Interim Principal.

In many ways, it was from that moment that Principal Britton’s interview process began. Still, the nearly year-long search process resulted in thirteen candidates applying for the position. Those candidates drew from not only New York, but also other states and even internationally. Following an initial screening process, two candidates were invited to interview as finalists. Principal Britton was one of them.

“With strong recommendations from members of our faculty, as well as our families, it became abundantly clear that Vicky Britton was God’s choice for this season of the school’s ministry,” said Tony LaBarca, pastor of Crossroads Church and an LCS Board Member.

“When I started out as a basketball scorekeeper at Lima Christian, I dreamed of one day working at place like LCS, but I never imagined that I would be given the privilege of serving as the school’s principal. My husband and many members of our family are LCS alumni. I’m passionate about Christian education and humbled that the Lord would allow me to step into this role,” concluded Principal Britton.

“As an internal hire, Mrs. Britton understands the Lima Christian culture. She’ll keep the school rooted in its nearly fifty-year heritage of integrating Christian worldview into every discipline studied. While her strength in administration and heart for ministering to the mental, emotional, and spiritual needs of modern students will serve the school well,” concluded Jason J. McGuire, Chairman of the Board.

Annual Fund Drive continues as fiscal year concludes

While tuition dollars are our primary source of revenue, it is impossible to operate a school like LCS using only tuition income. Your tax-deductible gift of any amount to the LCS Annual Fund supports the greatest needs of the school such as scholarships, endowment, athletics, technology, and the life-changing teaching that we value at LCS. Our fiscal year ends on June 30, 2021. As of this moment we are at 89% of our this year’s goal, which means we still need $14,465.07 before the end of this month. Would you consider supporting the school with a tax-deductible donation? We are grateful for your generous support!

We’d like to share a letter we recently sent to the LCS community.

Dear LCS Community,

As a creek becomes a stream, and a stream becomes a river, there are places along the way that are out of the ordinary. At some points there are rapids, at others calm waters, and at still others there may be sharp curves in the path of the waterways. In the same way, there are times in the history of any organization that are particularly meaningful and noteworthy. Lima Christian School is experiencing one of those special times in its history.

The pandemic caused us to reflect upon not only how we do things, but why we do them. At LCS, we did not settle for mere adaptability to the present pandemic moment, but we began to innovate for the future. We have seen new faculty and staff hires, and our school board has welcomed multiple new members. With deep appreciation for all who have gone before us, we find ourselves at a time where fresh eyes and fresh thinking are being brought to bear on our ministry. Just as old wineskins are inappropriate for new wine, there are some aspects of our past that are being left behind. This season is fueling a level of passion and willingness to release faith to “conquer giants.” It is an exciting time to be a part of LCS!

There are a couple of ways that you can participate with us in this exciting time. We are profoundly thankful for your past financial support, and we invite you to prayerfully consider contributing to our 2020-2021 Annual Fund. While tuition dollars are our primary source of revenue, it is impossible to operate a school like LCS using only tuition income. Any financial support that you are able to provide now will enable us to continue to press into the exciting future that is ahead for LCS.

Your gift of any amount to the LCS Annual Fund supports the greatest needs of the school such as scholarships, endowment, athletics, technology, and the life changing teaching that we value at LCS. Click here to make a tax-deductible donation.

A second way that you can make a meaningful impact is to pray about families that you know who have children who would benefit from the education that LCS provides. We have the capacity at every grade level to increase our enrollment. To educate 20 students in a classroom costs no more than to educate 15. The difference, however, of 5 more students’ tuition dollars makes a major impact on our budget. Quite simply, we need those additional students. If you know anyone who is not currently part of the LCS community, please consider sharing with us their contact information via reply to this e-mail. We will reach out to them and invite them to explore what LCS has to offer.

Thank you for your support and generosity!

Sincerely Yours,
James Schwartz
School Board Member
