Thank Your For Considering Lima Christian School

Many people use the final days of a year to make tax-deductible donations to their favorite charities. As you consider charitable giving, we hope that you will consider Lima Christian School.

Lima Christian is predominantly funded through tuition paid by attending families. However, this is not our only source of income. The school holds fundraisers, such as the annual benefit auction. We also seek grant funding. Finally, we do plan on receiving charitable donations. The 2022-23 Budget anticipates about 14 percent of our income will come through tax-deductible gifts.

We can say with confidence that LCS is in a strong financial position. It is due in part to the Board’s leadership and the Administration’s management of the school’s fiscal plan. However, it is also because our greater school community has started considering Lima Christian for its charitable donations in ways that it had not previously. Ultimately though, it is because the Lord stirs the hearts of His people to support this effort.

So, as you think about your end-of-year giving, we remain grateful for your remembrance of Lima Christian School. Online gifts can be made until 11:59 PM on December 31 if you desire to deduct that donation on your 2022 tax returns. Checks made payable to “LCS” must be dated by December 31, 2022 and mailed to: 1574 Rochester Street, Lima, NY 14485.

Thank you for your ongoing support!

A Note From Principal Britton: Unity Is A Blessed Gift

There have been special times and places where God, in His purposes, “commanded the blessing.” Psalm 133 tells us that it is in times of unity that God does this. We, the Lima Christian School community, have been experiencing this season of blessed unity in recent weeks and months. What a joy it is to find ourselves favored by God in this way at this time! It is my privilege to share with you some examples of unity and harmony in the school’s ministry.

The school leadership team has been united in efforts to positively impact the culture and environment around us. We have been focusing on spiritual growth and development through daily encouragement, devotions, online and in person conferences and workshops, and in-house professional development.

Our faculty and staff are harmoniously working to bring relevant, challenging academic programs to our students through a Biblical worldview. We are collaboratively focusing on supporting and encouraging students in their spiritual journeys, enabling them to stand for truth in love, and helping them to know God and to glorify Him in all they say and do. We are striving to help students build a firm foundation in God’s word to stand for truth in the current culture. Some of the new ways we are doing this are through our keyboard recording studio, Just Show Up Book Club, Intro to Theater, soccer and basketball clinics, voice lessons, and work study opportunities. To support all these efforts, our school board is united in its commitment to continue to upgrade employee salaries and benefits.

Our wider community of alumni, parents, and friends of the school is growing in unity as well. At our Homecoming weekend in September, we welcomed LCS alums from 20 different graduating classes! Also, we are blessed to welcome two new school board members: Mr. David Sieling and Mr. Lee Teitsworth. In addition, we are seeing a new level of excitement for volunteering, as we develop a parent ambassador group and increase participation in the annual benefit auction.

While unity is a blessed gift from God, we know that we are also directed to maintain the unity that He has given us (Eph. 4:3). We are committed to doing this! We so appreciate the opportunity that you all are giving us to participate in raising up this next generation of LCS Saints! We also rejoice that we can continue to request, and trust that you will continue to prayerfully supply, the very necessary financial support that enables us to Love, Learn and Lead together.

May you and your family have a Merry Christmas.

Lima Christian’s 2022 Benefit Auction Breaks Record

One week ago, was Lima Christian School’s 2022 Benefit Auction.

Historically, the auction has been our school’s largest fundraising event of the year, but this time we set a record.

In fact, through your support and God’s amazing provision, we shattered previous records. The 2022 Auction raised $52,643.63. It was an 87 percent increase over our 2021 event and a nearly $15,000 increase over our previous record, which was set in 2017.

Lima Christian families, alumni, faculty, staff, friends, and the business community came together to make the auction the tremendous success that it was. The Teitsworth family’s RTI Auctions has been pivotal in the growth of the event, not the least of which was the addition of an online auction this year. Whether you donated an item, sponsored an ad, shared a social media post, placed a bid, baked a potato, volunteered for childcare, or lifted a prayer, you are partners in this provision.

As Theresa Dils, secretary of the LCS Board, recently reminded members of the Board, we should not be surprised by these results. Some years ago, the Board began praying for a $50,000 event. At the time, we were believing God for what seemed like a big goal. Yet, only a few years later, the Lord has heard and graciously answered that request.

Lima Christian is financially assisting more families than ever before. So, thank you for your part in making sure that our school has all the resources it needs to continue providing students with an excellent, Christ-centered education.

Psalm 66:5 says, “Come and see what God has done: He is awesome in his deeds.” At Lima Christian School, we have certainly experienced that reality. Now, we cannot help but wonder what God wants to do in and through our school next.

You’re Invited To First Friday

Right now you’re squeezing every last ounce out of summer, but we’re looking forward to soon welcoming students back to school.

At Lima Christian, one of our shared values is community.

Accordingly, LCS is hosting a special “First Friday” event. “First Friday” is intended to encourage community among our students, families, faculty, and staff at the start of the academic year.

You’re invited to join us this Friday, September 9, from 5:00 to 8:00 PM for a fun-filled evening.

It’s no cost to our families. We’ll provide the music, bounce houses, gaga pit, pizza, cotton candy and snow cones. You simply show up with your family and a lawn chair or two.

We are seeking several volunteers for this event. If you would like to serve in this capacity, please email via email.

Let’s celebrate the start of another school year!

Lima Christian Names Vicky Britton School Principal

Lima, NY—The Lima Christian School Board is pleased to announce that Vicky Britton has been named as the next principal of Lima Christian School. A familiar face, Mrs. Britton had been serving as the interim principal during the 2021-22 Academic Year, but now assumes the title and responsibilities of permanent principal.

Britton earned her undergraduate and master’s degrees from the State University of New York at Geneseo. She is also pursuing a Graduate Certificate in School Leadership through Liberty University (Lynchburg, VA).

Principal Britton began her professional career as a speech pathologist. Her work experience took her from Norman Howard School (Rochester, NY) to serving as an ESL educator at Lima Christian and then the director of the school’s International Student Program. In 2020, Britton began serving as Vice Principal of Lima Christian. Following Principal John Reese’s 2021 departure, Britton stepped in as Interim Principal.

In many ways, it was from that moment that Principal Britton’s interview process began. Still, the nearly year-long search process resulted in thirteen candidates applying for the position. Those candidates drew from not only New York, but also other states and even internationally. Following an initial screening process, two candidates were invited to interview as finalists. Principal Britton was one of them.

“With strong recommendations from members of our faculty, as well as our families, it became abundantly clear that Vicky Britton was God’s choice for this season of the school’s ministry,” said Tony LaBarca, pastor of Crossroads Church and an LCS Board Member.

“When I started out as a basketball scorekeeper at Lima Christian, I dreamed of one day working at place like LCS, but I never imagined that I would be given the privilege of serving as the school’s principal. My husband and many members of our family are LCS alumni. I’m passionate about Christian education and humbled that the Lord would allow me to step into this role,” concluded Principal Britton.

“As an internal hire, Mrs. Britton understands the Lima Christian culture. She’ll keep the school rooted in its nearly fifty-year heritage of integrating Christian worldview into every discipline studied. While her strength in administration and heart for ministering to the mental, emotional, and spiritual needs of modern students will serve the school well,” concluded Jason J. McGuire, Chairman of the Board.
